The 55% absinthe is one of the most awarded spritiuoses from the house of Studer. The drink has won several titles for both its taste and its stylish bottle design. The “green high-proof” looks back on a very eventful past: the recipe for absinthe was born in the canton of Neuchâtel, where large-scale wormwood fields and numerous small distilleries dominated the landscape in the 19th century. The drink was very popular and eclipsed wine consumption for a long time. At the beginning of the 20th century, discontent spread due to the negligent use of the alcohol and absinthe production was banned for almost 100 years. In 2005, the traditional Swiss company Studer reintroduced absinthe to its product catalog and took up the time-honored knowledge of its ancestors in the production process. Since then, the distillery masters have been using wormwood herb, a secret mixture of eight herbs, pure alcohol, and fresh alpine water from their own source. The yellowish-green color typical of absinthe does not stand out as clearly in Swiss Premium Absinthe as in other products. On the other hand, the shimmering color of the liquid gives the “Matterhorn in a bottle” a gold-like sheen.
