5004 Badener Dry Gin 50cl
The 5400 Gin is an ode to the town of Baden with the Limmat loop and the sun-drenched Goldwand – on the southern slope thrive five of the nine botanicals used. Alcohol content: 45% vol., Bottle size: 500ml, Manufacturer: Turicum Distillery GmbH, Origin: Zurich, Canton Zurich
The Goldwand in the Limmat Valley near the town of Baden served as the inspiration for the 5400 Baden Dry Gin. On the south-facing slope, which stands out for its fertile soil and diverse flora, five of the nine botanicals that go into this gin thrive. The number “5400” thus reflects not only the postal code of the hometown Baden, but also the checksum of the ingredients used (9). The idea for the gin came from Stefan Wetzel, who is deeply attached to Baden. When he was looking for a producer in Zurich and met his old friend Oscar Martin, the project became concrete. Oscar had founded Turicum Distillery in 2015 together with three partners and was able to contribute the necessary know-how. Together with Turicum’s distiller Oliver Honegger, Stefan and Oliver created the recipe for the Baden gin. In addition to the five locally grown botanicals, they chose juniper and coriander seeds as the base, as well as two exotic ingredients from overseas. The 5400 Baden Dry Gin has been distilled in small batches at Turicum Distillery since December 2019 with the addition of the naturally pure water from the Müllerbräu spring. The juniper spirit reveals aromas of spicy hot pepper, spruce, cherry blossom and almond.
